TABLE FACET : Central facet on a gem's crown. TALISMAN : A protective jewel to which magic properties are attributed. TASSELS : A terminal decorative device, originally a clasp for a cloak, but now a pendant ornament with parallel, bunched but free hanging elements, attached at one end to a cord, chain, or other article. TEMPERING : The process of heating metal after hardening to reduce its brittleness. TEMPORAL : An ornament worn on the temples at either side of the head. THUMB RING : A ring worn on the thumb. TIARA : A half crown ornament worn at the front of the head. TIE PIN : A pin to hold the tie it in place. TIE TACK : a stud worn to pierce a tie and the shirt beneath it to secure the tie in place. TOE RING : A ring worn on a single toe, or on all five. TOGGLE : A kind of button or frog that can be easily engaged and disengaged for temporary purposes. Also a chain ending with a swivel and loop that easily turns so that what is attached to it lies flat and the chain does not bind in movement. TORQUE, TORC, TORCH : A stiff, originally twisted necklace or collar (from Latin: torquere, "to twist" ) with a back opening commonly worn by ancient peoples. |
